• Jyushi grew up with parents who were always very busy working and most of his care was taken care of by his grandmother. As a child, he was very shy and sad he couldn’t see his parents and grew very attached to his grandmother. Knowing how shy he was, his grandmother made him a stuffed pig named Amanda so he could always remember his grandmother loved him and was there for him when he looked at Amanda. This begins him taking Amanda with him everywhere that he goes, even when he becomes a teenager.

• When he was 14, he had to change schools and made a vow to himself that he would try to make friends this time. At his new school, he introduces himself and says he likes visual kei which catches the attention of Iyogi, another visual kei fan. They become friends, Jyushi’s first friend, and bond over this. At some point, Iyogi sees Amanda in Jyushi’s bag and Jyushi introduces them.

• Iyogi wants to start a band and suggests they all go to karaoke. Iyogi is a good singer and gets attention but when Jyushi steps up, he’s naturally talented and gains more attention. Iyogi is jealous and turns on him, bullying him. The bullying becomes very intense, going as far as death threats, until one day Hitoya Amaguni comes across Jyushi getting bullied. Hitoya threatens the bullies and tells Jyushi to stay strong but if he ever needs help then to contact him.
• Jyushi begins his visual kei persona, standing up against the bullies, and Iyogi pushes him down. At this point, people start to think Iyogi is going too far. Iyogi is told they should move onto somebody else but Iyogi says they have more ways to hurt Jyushi.

• Jyushi is told his grandmother was killed in a traffic accident for walking out during a red light. Crying in the bathroom, he overhears it was because of Iyogi and his friends having taken Amanda when Jyushi’s grandmother was coming to give her back to Jyushi. Iyogi runs with her and puts her into the middle of the road, Jyushi’s grandmother running to get her before she’s hit. Iyogi recorded all of this and Jyushi overhears it, realizing they murdered his grandmother. Jyushi takes the phone and runs to Hitoya’s office to give him the proof as well as saying he plans to commit suicide.

• Hitoya stops him and they take Iyogi to court. Jyushi wins, putting Iyogi away for 10 years, but finds that he doesn’t feel any better at all. We aren’t sure about the amount of time but Jyushi, depressed, stops going to school. Hitoya meets with him and takes Jyushi to his band’s favorite concert so he can enjoy something. There, Hitoya sees how much Jyushi likes visual kei and suggest he play music. Jyushi tries a guitar and finds that he really likes it so Hitoya gives him his brother’s guitar.

• Jyushi is inspired to try living his life again and to start a band, saying he’ll go back to school so maybe he can find people to start a band with. We don’t know what happens for the next four years but we see he did start a visual kei band, seems to have some moderate success around Nagoya, but is still struggling with being anxious and cries easily.

• At 18, we see that Jyushi now comes to Hitoya over everything and Hitoya says Jyushi needs to work on growing up. Jyushi decides to do spiritual training at a Buddhist temple. Shakkai Harai, who runs the temple, agrees if only his son Kuko Harai, will do the training. Kuko originally doesn’t want to but is coerced into it. Kuko had just gotten told he had to represent Nagoya in the Division Battle and needs to find three teammates. He trains Jyushi by making him withstand his raps, causing Jyushi to get knocked out several times but always getting back up. Hitoya helps until Jyushi can withstand the attacks, giving his own verse. Kuko, impressed, says he wants Jyushi to be on his team. Jyushi, wanting to become stronger, agrees and the three of them form Bad Ass Temple.

• As Jyushi trains at the temple to become stronger, Kuko says they need to work better as a team and tells Hitoya to come over so they can train. Hitoya says he has business in Shinjuku and can’t. Kuko misunderstands and thinks Hitoya is going after Matenro so he makes Jyushi come with him to Frgrance where Hifumi works to battle him. They battle but then police come and Jyushi, terrified he’s about to get arrested and go to jail, takes Kuko and runs away.
